Changing plans....

So, given the way things in Tibet have been escalating, it looks like there is no way August and I are going to be able to go there. Staring at a map of Asia has told me that the only other land routes to China are either through Kashmere, Pakistan + Afganistan, or Burma, none of which are really viable options for land travel. There goes the epic overland adventure. I suppose there is always the possibility of going over water, though....

You know August is a month that I get off from work. Oh, and I know where I'm going to be now. :) Mihama (aka Beautiful Bay). It's right near Kyoto which is a place you *definitely* want to see, you could probably go from Japan to China without too much trouble too.
I'm going to send you a proper letter soon, but for now let it suffice to say that I am really ready to be in Japan.
Have fun!

Hi there, Anna. I just got around to catching up on your journal. I do miss seeing around here--I really don't like to think of you being all of the way (or half of the way) around the world--except truly I do, because it makes the world feel closer. I'm glad at this point you are avoiding Tibet. Be well. Best wishes. Your adventures seem truly wonderful.

Hey, Anna -- I'm catching up on this as well now that we're on "spring break" (lots of snow still on the ground and more coming...). My nephew's on HIS post-graduate round-the-world adventure but headed in the opposite direction (Indonesia, China, then a bike ride from Turkey to Berlin...). So at some point maybe you will cross latitude lines at exactly the same time! Glad you're being safe about Tibet, though. I'll look forward to more,
Clara
